Vangent founded the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) in 1992
to help represent providers of assessment, selection, screening,
certification, licensing, educational and clinical tools. Today,
more than 100 organizations are ATP members.
The BBSB assessment helps measure skills and abilities for
financial services jobs. This battery yields one overall score. A
short form of the BBSB is also available.
Norms are based on job applicants in the banking industry.
BBSB assessment results have been shown to correlate with
manager ratings of job performance. Validation study reports
are available upon request.
BBSB reports provide individual scale scores and separate
overall Potential Estimates for the banking industry positions
listed above.
Dimensions of Measurement:
Arithmetic Computation** - Assesses ability to
perform simple addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Error Recognition** - Measures ability to
quickly recognize which of a pair of answers to arithmetic problems
is closer to the correct answer.
Name Comparison** - Measures ability to detect
similarities or differences between pairs of names quickly.
Number Comparison** - Assesses ability to
detect similarities or differences between pairs of numbers
quickly.
Cognitive Skills - Measures ability to reason,
learn new tasks, understand written materials, solve problems, sort
out facts, and make decisions
Math Ability - Assesses ability to do
arithmetic problems using decimals and fractions, recognize errors,
and remember details and perform a sequence of activities.
Motor Ability - Assesses self-reported
eye-hand-foot skills, acuity in seeing nearby objects,
understanding of machinery.
Perceptual Skills - Measures skill at quickly
comparing names, numbers, patterns, or objects, and estimating
quantity.
Error Perception - Composite measure of
interactions between Error Recognition and Perceptual Skills; high
scorers are viewed as having more accurate perceptions of their
ability to detect errors.
Drive - Assesses desire for upward movement in
the organization
Interpersonal Skills - Assesses ability to
listen, stay calm, remain cheerful, and use persuasion and
tact
Leadership - Measures initiative, interest in
organization as a whole, being a leader or supervisor, working at
different jobs.
School Achievement - Measures liking for, and
success in, an academic environment, as well as liking for, and
participation in, formal and informal group activities.
Self Discipline - Assesses ability to be
accurate, follow through, concentrate, and accept change
